A Splendid African Safari Afloat A Hot Air Balloon With Thrilling Scenes Of The Plains Teeming With Wildlife.
An African safari is not complete devoid of taking a ride on a hot air balloon.
In 1976, Alan Root and his spouse Joan- wildlife film producers, utilized a hot air balloon to capture movie clips of wild animals. It was much simpler, to use the balloon to access parts where an auto was unable to access, to film spectacular aerials of wildlife.
From then on, the idea attracted the curiosity of visitors who were prepared to pay out top-dollar for this once a lifetime experience. This gave birth to balloon safaris in Kenya Tanzania safaris.

Afloat, we have a clear eagle's eye sight of the immensity of the Masai Mara and the Serengeti Parks extending as far as the eye can see. It seems infinite.
We take 90 degrees angle and beneath we notice the tops of the heads of giraffes through the canopies of acacia trees as they browse the leaves, scarcely acknowledging us moving in the air above.
After one hour adrift, the journey ends and a bouncy landing brings us back to the ground. Finally we crawl out of the carrier to a champagne breakfast. The charm is that this breakfast happens in the bush, wherever you land, and it's made as you see with the burners that minutes before held you suspended in the air. What a way to commence our morning safari!
"Over time, there has been advancement in hot air balloon technological innovation. The furnaces are more efficient and quieter than the first balloon safaris" explains the captain.
"What surprises many first-time balloonists is the utter stillness, the serenity as you hover above the plains, the woodland and the rivers of the Masai Mara. The noises underneath drift clearly upwards: a lion's roar, elephants crashing through the bush, baboons perched on the tops of the trees. If you're lucky you will scale high above for the scene of a life-time. " the captain offers.
After the end year rains, the grass is lush green as we drive back to our camp viewing game en-route. It is contrasting as these are the same grasslands which, in November, were golden, parched and hash.
Abruptly we bump into a mother cheetah marking her tree, spraying the area with urine. Finished, she scans our group and then makes a soft chirping sound as she proceeds on her way through the grass. Probably she is looking for her litter.
The plains are teeming with elephants, buffaloes, topi, wildebeests and other antelopes and the scene is just great.
