Walt Disney World Crowds - Tips On How To Escape From Bottlenecks

Avoiding Disney World crowds takes some work. If you do a little homework, it gets easier. Here are 5 tips to escape crowds.

Disney World Number One -

Get to the parks early - Come on sleepyheads hop out of bed. Mickey rewards early birds with short lines and uncrowded streets. The first hour of any day is the least crowded in all of the Disney World parks.

As the day starts, guests continue to arrive and Disney crowds continue to build until late in the afternoon or early evening. Crowds will start to thin out somewhat as the evening gets later. For example, the quene at Splash Mountain during the first hour in the morning will be 10 minutes or less. After lunch, on most days, lines will reach more than one hour.

It's been said "The Early Bird gets the Worm". I don't know about worms, but the early bird at the parks almost has the parks to themselves.

Number Two -

Extra Magic Hours - If you are staying at a Disney World Resort, take advantage of Disney's Extra Magic Hours. This is the program that enables Disney World Resort visitors in to the parks one hour before the publicized opening time or up to three hours after the park officially closes. This can really help escape long lines at widely used rides.

Every day one of the parks, including the water parks, participates in Extra Magic Hours. Disney World allows customers in early or let's them stay late and ride the most popular rides in the park.

Number Three -

Know when to use Fastpass. A few years ago Disney initiated a program to relieve the length of time guests wait in line. It is called Fastpass. This service allows a ticket holder to get around long lines of people via a separate entrance.

There are instances when Fastpass doesn't save you any time or the return time will conflict with other plans you might have. If the "Standby" line at an Fastpass attraction (they all have a clock showing Standby line times) has a wait time of under 30 minutes, getting a Fastpass ticket won't save you any time. Go ahead and ride, or grab a ticket, ride the ride, and come back and ride it all over again later.

Fastpass is offered to for all guests and, here's the best part...

It's for free.

Number Four -

Pick a slower month to visit - There are a couple of months when Walt Disney World crowds are smaller in size. In general these months are when there are no school holidays. An example, mid-January to the end of February, and again in late August until Thanksgiving. At these seasons crowds are littler the pace in the Disney World parks is more comfortable and the restaurants are more available.

An extra benefit to traveling during slower times of the year is that Disney normally offers , more affordable, costs.

Number Five -

Have a plan - You can save a lot of time, and escape Walt Disney World crowds, if you know where you are headed and have a plan to get around the parks. That is, do your homework. (If you're reading this that's probably what your doing.)

Choose your eating places early and plan your days around your meals. You can make Advanced Dining Reservations 180 days in advance of to arrival for most Disney restaurants.

Your family can have a lot of fun planning a Walt Disney World escape together.
